Bryans Auto Supply Press Release: 09/21/98
The 1998 12th Annual Bryans "Old Rip" Car Show was a great fun filled show. The show was dedicated to the late Dan Staggs and Bill Mercer. Dan owned KEAS Radio that has done live remote of the Car Show since the 80's and Bill was a Car Show Judge many times through the years. They were great friends of the Bryans family and will be greatly missed.
Once again it was a hot, HOT day, but a great Car Show day. The big Thunder Boomers we heard was from the Tigger Monster Bus, Pull Trucks and Race Cars attending this years show. They all took the opportunity to enter the "Ground Breaker Delight" at the 98 Show. "They were definitely heard throughout the downtown area". The feature special attraction this year was definitely a crowd pleaser, being the 12ft tall "TIGGER" Monster Bus owned by Jeff Brock, "One of the worlds largest school buses". Tours was available through the 20,000lb monster bus.
First time ever at the Bryans Car Show, was the peoples choice Best of Show. This was done using a voting box, within the car show grounds, allowing anyone and everyone to vote on their favorite car. The car with the most votes, wining the peoples choice "Best of Show 1998" in the Bryans Auto Supply Car Show, was Robert McDaniel and his 1909 Sears and Roebuck car. These cars were only made about 4 years and was actually shipped out to customers containing final instruction guides on wheel assembly and other small items not installed for shipping purposes. There were many beautiful cars, trucks, cycles, race boats and even race cars. We thank all the entrants, fans and co-sponsors, and hope to see all of you and more at the 1999 Show.
