The
2003 17th Annual Bryans Auto Supply "Old Rip" Car Show was a great fun
filled show with beautiful cars and beautiful weather. This year's show was
dedicated to Pat Vaughn in
recognition and appreciation for his continued involvement through the years
with old cars. His efforts and expertise have assisted many in the automotive
industry throughout our area and more. James Wright and Billy John Keith, from
Eastland, were also acknowledged for their many years of participation in the
event. James has made every show for 17 consecutive years and Billy John has
made a showing for 16 years, including the Old Rip Fest parade each year. Comanche
County Car Club was in attendance and presented a Club Award to Buck Shchlumbohm,
from Ranger, for his 1937 Ford Pickup. This year's Bryans Car Show "Best of
Show" Award was presented to Tim Jenkins from Strawn. His entry also was a
winner in the Street Rod class. The vehicle was a 1923 Ford T-Bucket Roadster
and it was a nice one. Another winner from out of town was Robert Johnson, which
was from Bangs. Jokes were plentiful about the Mavericks beating Bangs the night
before, but Jim took it well. But he did make mention that we would all see each
other again come playoff time.
There
were many beautiful cars, trucks, racecars, go-carts, small engines and
motorcycles at the event. All the family at Bryans would like to thank everyone
for yet another great show. We hope to see everyone again at the 18th
annual show, being next year on Saturday September 18th, 2004.
